Clinic for Outreach and Personal Enrichment (COPE)

Clinic for Outreach and Personal Enrichment (COPE)

Full Description

  • Children For children ages 2-12, play therapy provides an open environment where they can express difficulties through the language of play. In the presence of a trained play therapist, children can freely play out their experiences and resolve life challenges from everyday stress to abuse and grief. A responsive and attuned therapist allows children to learn how to change behaviors, develop problem-solving skills, and integrate the experiences of relationships, the development of mind, and the growth of the brain.
  •  Adolescence is a time of growth, changes, and experimentation. Teenagers often struggle with issues of loneliness, rapid mood changes, formation of new relationships and loss of other relationships, and struggles with the future. Counseling provides a venue in which teenagers can discuss and reflect on life’s problems. With the help of an attuned therapist, adolescents can use counseling to explore who they are, address struggles in relationships, and understand how brain development influences their experiences.
  • College Students The college years can be some of life’s toughest. For many, they present students with myriad developmental challenges related to career choice, the transition into adulthood, and relationship issues. Whether you need help choosing an academic major, exploring possible career directions, dealing with family of origin issues, addressing psychological issues such as depression and anxiety, or addressing relationship issues, the counselors at the COPE clinic can help.
  • Adults As adults, we all want to put aside the issues of the past and move forward with a sense of wellness, a positive outlook, and security in healthy relationships. Yet at times, we find ourselves struggling with our health, experiencing a sense of depression, loss, and despair, or battling in relationships both at home and at work.  The counselors at COPE can help you resolve past issues, build your support systems, and tap into your strengths in order to reach your goals.
